PHOBIA’S

WHAT IS A PHOBIA?

A phobia can be described as an intense irrational fear of something that, in reality, poses little or no actual danger.

Some of the most common phobias and fears include claustrophobia, heights, flying , insects, snakes, dentists and needles. But is it possible to develop phobias of virtually anything. The majority of phobias develop in childhood, but they can also develop in later years.

If you have a phobia, you probably realize that your fear is irrational and probably even silly, but that still doesnt help with the feelings you get when faced with your fears. Just thinking about the feared object or situation may make you anxious. And when you’re actually exposed to the thing you fear, the terror is automatic and overwhelming.

You may even go to great lengths to avoid it — inconveniencing yourself or even changing your lifestyle. You may make excuses to avoid social events, avoid foreign holidays, or maybe even miss out on a job opportunity.

Understanding your phobia can be the first step to overcoming it. It’s important to know that phobias are very common and very treatable. Having a phobia doesn’t mean you’re crazy! We are only born with two automatic fears : the fear of loud noises, and the fear of falling. They are almost programmed into our DNA, and are purely designed to keep us safe. Every other fear in life is learned. And if its learned, it can be unlearned or reprogrammed.

Common types of Phobias and Fears

There are four general types of phobias and fears:

  • Animal phobias. Examples include:fear of rodents, and fear of dogs, fear of snakes, fear of spiders,

  • Natural environment phobias. Examples include : fear of the dark. fear of heights, fear of thunder, and fear of water.

  • Situational phobias (fears triggered by a specific situation). Examples include fear of enclosed spaces (claustrophobia), fear of tunnels, fear of flying and fear of bridges.

  • Blood-Injection-Injury phobia. The fear of catching a disease/or germs, fear of blood, fear of injury, or a fear of needles or other medical procedures.

How I cure Phobia’s?

Phobia’s is one area i specialise in treating.  My Phobia cure method is done over 4 hours ( that’s 2x 2hr sessions) to get to the bottom of any phobia and remove the symptoms.

I spend the first two hour session figuring out where it came from. Sometimes its very obvious and known to the client, other times it may take a bit longer to find. but i have yet to fail to do so in the first session with a client.

The second session is where i remove the symptoms of the phobia. I use well known and commonly used Hypnotic and NLP ( Neuro-Linguistic Programming) techniques to remove both the emotional and physical responses to the fear, breaking the mind body connection that brought on the panic feelings in the past.
