What is Hypnosis?
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is best described as a very deep state of relaxation. Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of consciousness, consciousness being the important word here. Because you are awake, no matter what you may or may not have seen on tv or heard about, you are fully aware. You are able to just get up and walk away at any point of hypnosis if you want to do so.
Hypnosis is achieved through a combination of relaxation techniques and guided use of your imagination. Hypnosis allows the Client and Hypnotherapist to tap into the storehouse of information that lies in the subconscious and make positive changes to negative thought patterns, bad habits or the effects of traumatic incidents that are having a negative impact either mentally or physically.
How safe is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis ( in a therapeutic sense ) is a normal, naturally occurring, healthy state of mind. It is totally DRUG FREE. There has never been a single documented case of harm resulting from the use of hypnosis.
What kind of results can I expect from Hypnosis?
Hypnosis has been demonstrated to have a wide range of benefits, from simply improving symptoms or difficulties, to completely eliminating them.
What does Hypnosis feel like?
Hypnosis can be likened to the feelings we experience just before waking completely from sleep or just as we drift off to sleep. Some people say it feels like daydreaming. When in hypnosis, people experience a state of complete mental, physical and emotional relaxation. In itself, this is a very healing state. If i were to tell you we all experience Hypnotic like states every day in our lives, what would you say?
Here are a few day to day examples of trance like experiences :
Have you ever been so caught up when reading a book, you are so engrossed , so vividly living every moment as its written in the book. You can almost see every scene in your minds eye. And then someone calls your name, and you kind of hear it, they call your name again and you still don’t reply, and maybe on the third time you reply.
Well that is a mild trance experience. You were focusing your mind, you were engaging your imagination, and you get emotionally involved in these people in the story. This is pretty much what mechanisms hypnosis engages. You are focusing your mind, using your imagination, and u are releasing an emotional response.
The same could be said when you watch a movie, again some people get sooo engrossed in what they are seeing. They live every moment, they laugh, they cry, they jump when some thing scares them, the hairs on their neck stand up when the movie becomes tense. Im sure everyone here has experienced atleast one of these things in their lives.
And this is why Hypnosis is so safe, and works so well with the human subconscious, we are just using a natural coping mechanism, a set of skills you have been using from the moment you are born, there is nothing scary or strange about it, it cant harm you. In fact its so safe theres never even been a single solitary case brought to court against a hypnotherapist regarding someone having a bad experience while in hypnosis. That’s how safe it is………………
